The Université de Strasbourg (University of Strasbourg) was created in 1538 and is the second largest university in France, with 47,000 students. It consistently ranks among the best in the League of European Research Universities.

Strasbourg is a city in the region of Alsace, on the French-German border. The city proper has roughly 275,000 inhabitants, with the metropolitan population just under 770,000.  It is a city defined by both its German and French roots, an impressive amount of medieval architecture and is home to the European Parliament.
