The University of Sao Paulo, situated in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, is the oldest university in Brazil and ranks among one of the best higher education and research institutions in Latin America. The University has campuses spread over eight cities: Bauru, Lorena, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Ribeirão Preto, São Carlos, Santos and São Paulo. The Law School was established in 1827 and the University itself was founded in 1934.

Sao Paulo is the wealthiest and most populous region of Brazil with a rich architectural tradition and a variety of cultural institutions.
