Italy
Italy and Scotland have many links, going back centuries, with Italians coming to study at the University of Glasgow for almost as long. Our first known graduate was Carlo Alberto Buffa, who enrolled at the University of Glasgow for his final year studying Moral Philosophy in 1890, although we can trace our Italian connections back to our founding in 1451. Many alumni stay on as part of the University of Glasgow’s thriving Italian community, whilst others have returned home and become members of industry, academia and a range of commercial professions.
Over 200 Italian students start at the University of Glasgow every year, attracted to the country that has more world-class universities per head of population than anywhere else, as well as one of the best student lifestyles anywhere! We share so many common passions, from a love of football, history and art, to an appreciation of food, wine and style. See what some of your compatriots get up here at the University of Glasgow via our Italian Society... maybe you will join them!
