Projects

From second year onwards, you will take part in a number of projects.  These will allow you to apply your knowledge to practical tasks and assist you in learning valuable skills such as teamwork and management.  You will make use of the School's UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) lab, a resource available only to Aerospace Systems students.

Second year team design project

You will work in a group of approximately 4 students and will be assigned to a member of the teaching staff with a 5th year MEng student acting as mentor/project manager.  You will develop your CAD skills and learn fundamental skills in the aerospace design process.

Third year team design project

You will work in a group, developing control systems for a UAV airship and comparing simulation results with experimental data.

Fourth year team design project

You will work in a group, developing control systems for a four-rotor helicopter UAV and comparing simulation results with experimental data.

Fourth year individual project
 
Individual project (year 5 - standard curriculum only)
 
European project (year 5 - European curriculum only)

If you choose to follow the European curriculum in your final year, you will undertake your project in a European university outwith the UK.

Industrial project (year 5 - industrial curriculum only)

If you choose to follow the industrial curriculum in your final year, you will undertake your project in the industry, gaining valuable professional experience.
