Why am I not receiving Booking Confirmation emails?

It could be that the confirmation emails are being picked up by your junkmail/spam filters. To fix this, please add the email address scubasqladmin@campus.gla.ac.uk to your email account's whitelist or 'safe senders' list.

In recent versions of Outlook, you can do this by clicking Home then Junk then Junk E-Mail Options then Safe Senders then Add.

For other email clients (e.g. Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird etc.) please refer to the help documentation for your specific email program.

The other possibility is an old or incorrect email address on your UofG Sport account.

For UofG Students and Staff please email sport@glasgow.ac.uk to check or update the email address we have on our system.

For Community and GUConnect members, you can check or update your email address by logging into the booking system and selecting Your Bookings then Update Email Address.

How do I cancel my booking using the app?

To cancel your booking using the UofG Sport app, please select Book Your Visit, log in then select Your Bookings then Cancel. Select which booking(s) you'd like to cancel then select Cancel Booking then hit OK to confirm.

For iPhone users, please ensure you have downloaded iOS Version 4.66 (or later) to cancel using the app.

Can I pay with cash?

Both the Stevenson Building and Grascube Sports Complex are now completely cashless, so only credit/debit card payments will be accepted.

Health & Safety

Is there a one-way system?

There remains a one-way system for the stairwells in the Stevenson Building (up Stairwell A and down Stairwell B) for general access.

Male swimming pool users should head straight to Male Pool Changing via Stairwell B.

Both main halls (Sports Hall & Activity Hall) have maintained their own entry and exit points.

One-way systems at Garscube Sports Pavilion have been removed.

In all UofG Sport facilities we encourage members to remain vigilant of respecting social distancing with other users when not exercising.

Do I have to wear a mask?

It is a mandatory requirement to wear a face covering when entering and moving around the facility (unless medically exempt).

When using the fitness equipment and exercising, wearing a face covering is not necessary or recommended.

Will hand sanitiser and cleaning equipment be provided?

Hand sanitiser, cleaning fluid and disposable paper roll will be available throughout the facilities. Members will be asked to wipe down their chosen piece of equipment before and after their workout.

Sessions & Classes

Can I access the changing rooms?

We're pleased to say that the changing rooms have now reopened, but we would encourage members to continue to arrive at the facilities gym-ready whenever possible, as changing room capacity will be limited.

Please be aware:

  • The UofG Sport team will be managing a regular cleaning regime
  • Capacities are clearly outlined on the door for your information
  • There are cleaning products throughout the space for you to use
  • Hairdryers can be used
  • Towels are available for hire
  • Lockers can be used – you'll need your own padlock and can't leave kit overnight

Let's work together to keep the facilities as clean and safe as we can!

Are there lockers available?

There are lockers available for swimming pool users, which require you to bring your own padlock. (We have padlocks for sale at reception if you forget yours or don't have one.)

In addition, we now have lockers available for use on Levels 4 & 5 (for non-pool users). Most of these require a £1 coin or trolley token which is refundable. There are also a small selection of lockers which require a padlock on Level 4.

Lockers should be cleaned before and after use.

Padlocks should not be left on lockers overnight. Lockers will be opened in this instance and a £10 charge will be accrued.

As indicated in our Ts&Cs (Clause 50c), UofG Sport takes no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of any items brought into the Facilities, unless UofG Sport is shown to have been negligent.

Do I need to bring my own mats, bands etc.?

Yes. If you use a Yoga mat, foam roller or resistance bands in your workout, you'll need to being those along too.

  • For Yoga classes, please bring your own mat.
  • For BoxHIIT classes, please bring your own gloves. Boxing or Muay Thai gloves are both acceptable.

What's the difference between a PowerPlay session and a PowerPlay Platform session?

If you book a PowerPlay Session you will have access to everything in PowerPlay except for lifting platforms 1-18.

If you book a PowerPlay Platform Session you will have guaranteed access to a squat rack and a platform. No other areas in PowerPlay or other "fixed equipment" (e.g. cable machines) are available during a Platform Session. Subject to availability, free weights may be moved to your platform for use, on condition they are returned after the your session.

Swimming Pool FAQs

Can I use the pool changing rooms and lockers?

Yes. Level 2 changing rooms are now open as normal – for pool users only – with lockers which require you to bring your own padlock. (We have padlocks for sale at reception if you forget yours or don't have one.)

There are still a selection of containers on poolside for those who are not yet comfortable using the lockers; however, we will be looking to phase these out in due course.

As indicated in our Ts&Cs (Clause 50c) UofG Sport takes no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of any items brought into the Facilities, unless UofG Sport is shown to have been negligent.
