Lifelong Learning in Palestine

التَعَلُّم مَدَى الحَيَاة في فلسطين

Lifelong Learning in Palestine is a national project aiming to initiate Lifelong Learning (LL) discourse and practice right across the West Bank and Gaza. There are many definitions of LL. For the purpose of a working definition, the following has been adopted with the proviso that it may change as Palestinian partners agree their own concept of according to the needs and requirements of Palestine as it extends provision.‌

The key fundamental value underpinning lifelong learning is that education is a human right for everyone throughout their lives and its purpose is to foster and release people’s capacities to engage with and influence their world. It is concerned with providing learning opportunities that are responsive to the changing life-cycles of learners and includes the ‘lifewide’ dimension of learning that refers to ‘the multiplicity of sites in which learning occurs … it encompasses the school or other conventional educational institutions, training centres, the home, the community and the workplace.’
