Programme Structure

The Euro-Asian MBA-MSc programme is an exciting partnership designed in collaboration with the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), allowing you to combine a one-year MBA from our partner uni in Asia with our master's degrees. 

The programme draws on both European and Southeast Asian-specific business experiences, giving you a unique insight into leadership in today's international business world. 

You'll spend your first year studying in Malaysia on the USM MBA programe, before joining us in Glasgow for the second part of your journey on our Glasgow MSc.   

At Glasgow, you'll have the choice of one of three, world-class MSc programmes, including: 

  • Corporate Governance & Accountability 
  • Environment & Sustainable Development or
  • International Strategic Marketing.

Year 1 MBA

The MBA programme at Universit Sains Malaysia (USM) is designed to help you meet your career challenges head-on. It provides a rigorous and comprehensive general management curriculum complemented by a mastery of cross-functional skills.

This is achieved through a hands-on learning experience and multimodal teaching strategies, including cases, simulations and discussions. All that is necessary to transform you into a dynamic outcome-oriented business leader.

The core courses in our MBA Programme cover various areas of business, such as accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, and operations which aim to equip you with managerial knowledge, tools, and techniques complements with a sound understanding of the principles of sustainable business.

Year 2 MSc

Once in Glasgow, choose between one of three world-class, triple accredited MSc programmes, including Corporate Governance & Accountability, Environment & Sustainable Development, and International Strategic Marketing. 

Corporate Governance & Accountability

This programme will give you a theoretical and practical understanding of corporate governance and accountability, combined with an international perspective.

Environment & Sustainable Development

Environment & Sustainable Development is designed to give you the tools to apply economic analysis to a range of environmental problems, with a focus on developing countries.

This programme will provide you with a detailed understanding of contemporary marking principles, techniques and trends from an international perspective.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for the Euro-Asian MBA-MSc programme at USM includes: 

  • A 2.1 Honours degree or non-UK equivalent 
  • Or a 2.2 Honours degree or non-UK equivalent and a minimum of 1-year relevant work experience
  • Also, your degree must meet the pre-requisites of the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School MSc.  

Shortlisted potential students will be invited for a short interview with the Programme Director or alternative as there is limited space for this highly competitive programme. 

English language requirements

  • For applicants whose first language is not English, the University of Glasgow sets a minimum English Language proficiency level.
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic module (not General Training)

    • 6.5 with 2 sub-tests at 6.5 and 2 sub-tests at 6.0.
    • Tests must have been taken within 2 years 5 months of start date. Applicants must meet the overall and subtest requirements using a single test.

    Common equivalent English language qualifications

    All stated English tests are acceptable for admission to this programme:

    TOEFL (ibt, my best or athome)

    • 90 with minimum R 20, L 19, S 19, W 23.
    • Tests must have been taken within 2 years 5 months of start date. Applicants must meet the overall and subtest requirements using a single test, this includes TOEFL mybest.

    PTE (Academic or Academic Online)

    • 60 with minimum 59 in all subtests.
    • Tests must have been taken within 2 years 5 months of start date. Applicants must meet the overall and subtest requirements using a single test.

    Cambridge Proficiency in English (CPE) and Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) 

    • 176 overall, no subtest less than 169
    • Tests must have been taken within 2 years 5 months of start date. Applicants must meet the overall and subtest requirements using a single test.

    Glasgow International College English Language (and other foundation providers)

    • 65%.
    • Tests are accepted for academic year following sitting.

    University of Glasgow Pre-sessional courses

    • Tests are accepted for 2 years following date of successful completion.

    Alternatives to English Language qualification

    • Degree from majority-English speaking country (as defined by the UKVI including Canada if taught in English)
      • students must have studied for a minimum of 2 years at Undergraduate level, or 9 months at Master's level, and must have complete their degree in that majority-English speaking country and within the last 6 years
    • Undergraduate 2+2 degree from majority-English speaking country (as defined by the UKVI including Canada if taught in English)
      • students must have completed their final two years study in that majority-English speaking country and within the last 6 years

    For international students, the Home Office has confirmed that the University can choose to use these tests to make its own assessment of English language ability for visa applications to degree level programmes. The University is also able to accept UKVI approved Secure English Language Tests (SELT) but we do not require a specific UKVI SELT for degree level programmes. We therefore still accept any of the English tests listed for admission to this programme.

    Pre-sessional courses

    The University of Glasgow accepts evidence of the required language level from the English for Academic Study Unit Pre-sessional courses. We also consider other BALEAP accredited pre-sessional courses:

Funding opportunities

If you require funding for your master's degree, begin your research as soon as possible.

Students applying to the Euro-Asian MBA-MSc programme at the University of Glasgow will not be eligible for internal University of Glasgow scholarships, as our fees are already reduced under the Euro-Asian MBA-MSc programme partnership.
