Research Services

Led by Dr Bryony Wakefield, Executive Director of Research Services, the team works collaboratively across several portfolios to support and enable people working across the research ecosystem, including:

ARC Operations, led by Dr John Harris. The team focus is to develop the policies, protocols and procedures that allow creativity and research to flourish in a highly interdisciplinary environment while ensuring the effective, safe and efficient operation of the ARC facilities. The portfolio covers the following areas of expertise and support: business operations; events & engagement and technical operations.

Research Culture & Researcher Development, led by Dr Kay Guccione. The team works to ensure every researcher to be at their best, to be part of a stimulating, fair, and inclusive environment in which colleagues help each other to succeed and to make informed active choices about their development and their careers. The portfolio covers the following areas of expertise and support: research culture and researcher development.

Research Governance, Policy & Integrity, led by Ms Mary Beth Kneafsey. The team enables researchers to conduct research of the highest quality, to the uppermost standards, whilst supporting them to navigate complicated compliance requirements in the easiest way possible. The portfolio covers the following areas of expertise and support: research policy & planning; PGR strategy & policy; and research governance & integrity.

Research Impact & Engagement, led by Ms Rose-Marie Barbeau. The team helps build an engaged researcher community and an impactful research profile by embedding understanding, support and recognition of impact and all its pathways at all career stages and levels of seniority. The portfolio covers the following areas of expertise and support: research engagement; knowledge exchange; communications and impact.

Strategic Research Initiatives, led by Dr Maria McPhillips. The team works across the University to create connections between people and ideas, ideas and opportunities, opportunities and cross-functional support, and between strategic ambitions and operational delivery. The portfolio covers the following areas of expertise and support: research initiatives & funding and international development research.
