School of Cancer Sciences

About School of Cancer Sciences

The School of Cancer Sciences is a collaborative hub dedicated to advancing cancer research through a patient-centred approach.

A distinctive feature of our institution is its strong integration of clinical expertise, with nearly half of the faculty being clinicians. This unique blend ensures that our scientists are addressing clinically relevant issues, with access to vital resources such as clinical trials, patient samples, and patient/public involvement.

By fostering this synergy between clinicians and scientists, the School aims to tackle the unmet needs in cancer care and drive meaningful improvements in treatment and outcomes.

Our Commitment to Sustainable Working Practices

The University is committed to embedding sustainability into our research and operational activity. As part of this commitment, we actively support the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF), a sector‑wide initiative that helps research groups reduce their environmental impact through improved resource management, energy efficiency, and responsible laboratory practices.

To support our community in meeting these expectations, we are proud to highlight the School of Cancer Sciences groups that have achieved LEAF accreditation in recognition of their efforts to operate more sustainably.
