Mackintosh and Vienna
Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh’s engagement with the Continent is the subject of a major research project. This explores the Mackintoshes’ relationship with the Viennese patron, Fritz Waerndorfer, and the music room created for him by the Mackintoshes. The project will lead to a richer understanding of Mackintosh’s contribution to continental design, Waerndorfer’s role as patron and collector, and Macdonald’s achievements, in particular her decorative gesso work.
