A major research project is underway to celebrate the tercentenary in 2013 of the birth of Allan Ramsay with an exhibition, publication and conference at The Hunterian. The project aims to place Ramsay’s portraits of key contemporaries in the context of his career as a painter and a writer and to investigate his place in the intellectual and cultural life of London and Edinburgh. The project is a collaboration between The Hunterian, History of Art and other University departments.
