Support and advice

We encourage you to make use of the range of support and advice services available to you while you are a student at Glasgow. Our friendly staff are here to help.

Arts Advising Team

We are here to provide guidance on your curriculum and your progress from year to year. We can give advice and help you to enrol, make sure you choose the correct courses to get the degree you are aiming for, or to support you tif you want to change direction. We are also your first port of call for pastoral support. We can connect you to other support services the university too.

Support Services include:

Student Disability

If you have a mental or physical condition or disability that may affect your study, and for which you may need support, (for example, a visual or hearing or mobility impairment; a long-term mental health or medical condition; a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia), then you must arrange to be assessed by the Disability Service in order for appropriate help to be offered and adjustments made.

If you received extra time and/or use of a computer for exams at school, these provisions will not follow you to your time at university. You must be assessed by the Disability Service at the University for this to be provided to you during your degree. For any agreed provisions to be in place for your examinations in December, you must be seen and assessed by the Disability Service by the 31st of October at the latest.

Please contact the Disability Service directly for an appointment either by phone: 0141 330 5497 or via email: disability@glasgow.ac.uk

If you are, or if you become a parent or carer while you are here, then the university may be able to make provisions for you.

Withdrawing from university

If you are considering withdrawing from your studies, you should discuss the situation with the Arts Advising Team. Please be aware that withdrawal may have financial implications, and you may still be charged fees. Withdrawal may also affect your student loan if you have one.

For information on how to withdraw, please see the information and online withdrawal form on the Registry’s website:

If you are a SAAS-funded student, the deadline for withdrawal without loss of potential funding is 30 November of any year. Otherwise, a year’s fees will be paid for you. If you are an RUK or International student, please note that once you have registered and enrolled you are liable for a percentage of the annual tuition fee. Always check with your funding body whether you will be personally liable for any fees if you withdraw.
