Changing your degree subjects and courses

Master of Arts degrees at the University of Glasgow are flexible and offer you a significant amount of choice throughout your studies. You will have many opportunities to explore your interests, develop new skills, gain new experiences and to study subjects that may not have been available to you previously.

Many College of Arts students discover new interests and strengths through these experiences and as you progress through your studies there are further opportunities to change your focus, choose to specialise or broaden your subjects.

If you wish to change the focus of your studies, the Arts Advising team are here to advise and support you through the choices you have.

You may find that you prefer one of your optional subjects to your initial compulsory subject, decide to take two of your subjects to Honours rather than just one, or vice versa.

Our MA degrees and Advising support system is designed to enable you to make changes should you wish to do so. You are not required to remain on your initial degree plan for the duration of your studies here.

If have taken the relevant compulsory courses, it is often possible to change your degree plan. You should consult with the Arts Advising Team if you are considering this.
