Guide to registration and enrolment

Registration

Before you can choose and enrol in courses, you will first need to complete academic registration.

As part of the registration process, you will be asked to confirm your degree programme and plan. Your programme is the type of degree you are studying. Most students are studying a Master of Arts degree, others Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Divinity. Your plan is the subject or subjects of your degree, which you applied for through UCAS e.g. Philosophy or Italian / Scottish Literature.

Enrolment in classes and completing your courses

Once you have chosen your courses, you will need to enrol in classes within them. You are expected to make every effort to attend all classes.

You will make your course choices and enrol in them through your ‘Student Center’ in MyCampus (the university’s student records system), which you can access through the student portal, MyGlasgow. You log in to MyGlasgow using your Glasgow Unique Identifier (GUID) and your password, which will be sent to you separately in your “Account Access Notificaton” email. Please change your password to something more memorable after you’ve logged in for the first time.

See the section ‘How to enrol in courses’ in ‘Guide to Enrolment for New Students 2022-23.

See also Registry’s Enrolment Guide.

Academic Registration and MyCampus

MyCampus is your academic record and planner in your time as a student at the University of Glasgow. It is where you register, and also where you enrol for courses. It provides guidance to help you select suitable courses for the degree you will be studying, which is called your Academic Plan, and you will access it to record any absences, Good Cause, or check your grades. You will also use MyCampus to update your personal contact details

You can view your timetable through the UofG Life app. This can take 24 hours to update when a change has been made, but your timetable is always accurate in MyCampus.

Part-Time Students

If you are a part-time student, the courses you will take this year must be formally agreed between yourself and your Adviser of Studies. You must agree this before you enrol in your courses.

Advanced Entry Students

If you are a student who has been granted advanced entry to a higher year of study, please contact the Chief Adviser of Studies at arts-advising@glasgow.ac.uk once you have registered and before you enrol on your courses. Only when you have registered will the Advising Office be able to make the relevant changes to your MyCampus record.

Course Choice and Enrolment Deadline

You must have chosen and enrolled on all your courses (120 credits) through MyCampus for 2022-2023 by Friday 16 September 2022. Teaching begins on Monday 19 September.

How to Enrol in Courses

You will find instructions on how to enrol on courses at Registry: Enrolment.

MyCampus provides guidance to help you select suitable courses according to your degree programme and plan (for instance, MA History). If your plan is incorrect or if you wish to change the direction of your studies, you must contact the Arts Advising Team to change it before you complete enrolment.

Enrolment Help and Support

With so many options, we realise that choosing and getting the correct courses in place can sometimes be a confusing process. Please do not worry about this process, use this guide to help you. Further support and guidance is available at all times throughout the enrolment period and it is possible to change and drop courses, and enrol into new courses, provided there is space available in the class.

MyCampus Registration and Enrolment Support

For help navigating the registration and enrolment process in MyCampus, as well as guidance material and FAQs are available on MyGlasgow.

For further assistance or specific technical queries use the ‘create a support call’ link under Help and Support on the MyGlasgow homepage. The MyCampus support team will then be able to respond.

Contact the Arts Advising team

The College of Arts has an Advising Team of experienced academic and professional staff who will be available to provide support with your choice of courses, and to advise you throughout your time in Glasgow, on academic and pastoral matters. You will not be allocated an individual Adviser of Studies because you will benefit from access to support from across our team when you need it.

If you have any specific queries or for further assistance about your courses, please email us directly at arts-advising@glasgow.ac.uk
