Level 1 Core Lectures

The MA degree in the College of Arts is a flexible one, but students must follow the regulations below.

  • In Year 1 a student takes courses from three subjects at level 1, each of 2x20 credits or 40 credits, making a total of 120 credits.
  • In Year 2 a student takes two of these subjects to level 2 (minimum 80 credits at level 2) and the rest of that year’s 120 credits is made up of further level 1 or level 2 credits.
  • Over years 1 and 2, 120 credits must be from Arts subjects (subjects taught by the Schools within the College of Arts).
  • To enter honours, you must achieve a grade of D3 or better in at least 200 of these credits (i.e., you are allowed 40 credits below a D3). You must also achieve the subject specific entry requirements for Honours in the first sitting
