Fourth Year

‌‌‌‌Welcome back to your final year as an undergraduate in the School of Law.

Please follow the instructions on the Registry's website to register: http://www.gla.ac.uk/services/registry/registration/

Please refer to the Honours Timetable 2023-24 for further information and for an overview of Honours courses.

LLB Honours

Honours law courses are chosen in advance of enrolment and you are notified of the courses you have been allocated. These law courses will be added to MyCampus by the School of Law and you cannot enter them yourself.

You must, however, complete other aspects of registration as a student on the MyCampus system, in the usual way.

This year you must take 120 credits at Honours. This must include the LLB dissertation. You must ensure that the dissertation is added to your plan.

The classification of the Honours Degree

An Honours degree is classified normally on the basis of 200 credits. This comprises the dissertation, and all honours courses studied in Year 3 and Year 4 and 80 credits of honours courses studied in Year 3.

The method for calculating the final Honours classification is set out in the University Code of Assessment.

LLB with Joint Honours

Honours law courses are chosen in advance of enrolment and you are notified of the courses you have been allocated. These law courses will be added to MyCampus by the School of Law and you cannot enter them yourself.

This year you must take 120 credits at Honours. This must include a dissertation (see below). You must ensure that the dissertation is added to your plan.

Joint honours - Senior Honours courses

The procedure for allocating courses is not identical in every subject area and our practice in the School of Law may not be the same as that in the joint subject which you are studying. Therefore you must look at the online advice offered by the joint subject area to make sure you understand their process of entry to individual honours courses.

It is normal to take 60 credits of senior honours courses in the joint subject.

You must check the online information for the Joint Subject area.  You may be disadvantaged if you do not apply quickly for Honours courses in your Joint Subject.

Dissertations

You can only take one dissertation. You should already have decided whether your dissertation will be in law. Whether your dissertation is in law determines how many credits of law honours courses you will take in Year 4.
