You’ll get details of how to log into MyCampus by email when you receive your 'Access Your Student Account' (AAN) notification.

You need to register as a student of the University of Glasgow and enrol in your programme’s courses as soon as possible, but by no later than the 19 September 2022.

How do I enrol in my courses?

For all UG and ITE programmes, once you have completed academic and financial registration, the School of Education UG and ITE team will automatically enrol you on the required courses for your programme.  Please see refer to instructions sent out by the UG and ITE team.

What does ‘My Requirements’ mean?

When you login into Mycampus to select your courses, you will see the ‘My Requirements’ tab which describes the overall course, grade and credit requirements associated with your programmes plan and what core (compulsory) courses you must take.

If the course is a core requirement, then it is

When you click ‘Enrol by requirements, your core (compulsory) courses will be selected, and you can then select any further classes such as seminars or labs.

If your programme allows course options, you will also be able to view what permitted electives you can take as part of your programme.

For many programmes in the School of Education, you will only have core (compulsory) courses. This is due to the regulatory requirements of your programme’s professional accrediting body such as the GTCS and it is mandatory that you complete all the courses in order to achieve your degree.

What does My Choices Mean?

As you begin to select your courses and associated classes such as tutorials or seminars, you will be able to see how these fit into your provisional timetable in ‘My Choices’.

Once you have selected your courses, you will now be able to identify potential timetable clashes before enrolling. You can also use the “check suitability” button in ‘My Choices’, which checks your class selections against your timetable and any course requirements, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments before completing enrolment.

For further information on how to resolve Timetable clashes, please refer to the following guide - https://www.gla.ac.uk/media/Media_350111_smxx.pdf

Don’t delay enrolment!

It's important to be aware that places in each course, but especially in seminar groups, and popular course options will be available on a strict first-come, first-served basis; therefore, early enrolment is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment and we are unable to make exceptions.

Once a seminar is full, you will be unable to enrol on it and we cannot increase the size of these groups.

Remember: You have not enrolled by placing courses in ‘My Choices’. You need to take a final step and fully enrol.  Instructions on how to do this are on the Registry Website. Enrolment Help and Support.

MyCampus Registration and Enrolment Support: help navigating the registration and enrolment process in MyCampus, as well as guidance material and FAQs can be found at your MyGlasgow portal.

For further assistance or specific queries use the ‘create a support call’ link under Help and Support on the MyGlasgow homepage. The MyCampus support team will then be able to respond.

I have further questions on enrolment

If you need further assistance, help will be on hand with enrolment support from your programme administrator.

You can find details on who your programmes administrator is from the Your Programme Team section and they will be able to assist with any general enquiries when it comes to enrolling on your courses, for any academic or curriculum based questions, these should be directed to your adviser of studies.

You can find details on who your adviser of studies is from the Student Centre on MyGlasgow when you login on the right-hand corner of the screen.

I am transferring credit or a part-time student

Undergraduate Part-time Students: If you are a part-time student at undergraduate level, the courses you will take this year must be formally agreed between yourself and your Adviser of Studies. You must consult with them regarding your programme requirements, before you enrol in courses.

Advanced-Entry Students: If you are a student who has been granted advanced entry to a higher year of study or you are transferring credits from previous study, please contact the Chief Adviser of Studies once you have registered with the University and before you enrol in your courses to ensure that your curriculum for the year is correct and accounts for this.

Only when you have registered will the programme team will be able to make the relevant changes to your MyCampus record but only after you have fully completed registration.

I’ve been told I need to repeat one of my teaching placements. What does this mean?

You may need to repeat a student teacher placement for a number of reasons, including illness, bereavement or other personal circumstances. You may also be asked to repeat a placement if you failed one of your placements and you still need to meet the minimum requirements expected by the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS).

If you need to repeat or reschedule a placement this is called a “retrieval placement” and will generally take place in semester 1 of the following session. This means that you may need to apply for further funding from SAAS (if you are being sponsored by SAAS and are eligible).

SAAS provides some additional funding for students called a 'plus one' year, which allows you to claim an extra year’s funding should you need to repeat a period of study.

If you are eligible or are already in receipt of the Care Experienced Student Bursary, you are eligible to an additional “plus one” year (a total of 2 years). You can use the 'plus one' year to cover instances such as:

  • repeating a period of study for academic reasons
  • repeating a period of study for medical reasons
  • repeating a period of study for compassionate reasons
  • repeating a period of study part-time but registered as full time, known as Registered With Attendance (RWA)

For more information on SAAS Plus One Funding and how to apply, please go directly to the SAAS website.

If you are a self-funding student and ineligible for SAAS funding, you would need to cover these additional costs to complete your placement either through your own funds, or with a student loan.

You may able to apply for support from the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland.

I am applying for the part-time fee grant (SAAS). What do I need to do?

If you plan to study a degree programme totalling 30 credits per year, you may be eligible to apply for the part-time fee grant (PTFG) which can contribute towards your course fees.

Students in receipt of certain state benefits or those who are earning £25,000 or less per year including any private and state pensions may be eligible.

To download an application pack with completion guidelines please visit the visit our application process guidelines or visit the Student Awards Agency for Scotland(SAAS) website directly for further information.

If you are considering using SAAS funding, please read the following points carefully:

A new process for session 20/21 has been put in place that will affect the way we enrol students using PTFGs as we are unable to process paper applications. View information on the PTFG process

It is important that you apply for funding for all your courses at the same time because if you add further courses during the year you will not receive any SAAS funding and you will be liable for these additional fees.

Be aware that the Part-time fee grant will not cover the full tuition fee cost of your course and you will need to pay any remaining balance.

To find out what your SAAS PTFG contribution could be, you can use the PTFG award calculator, ensuring that you select 'Type of Course' field displays Degree' and accurately input the number of credits you intend to complete this session.

Be aware that if you withdraw from some of your courses and the total amount of credits you are taking is then less than 30 credits, you will no longer be eligible for a Part-Time Fee Grant and will need to fund the courses you have taken yourself.

The grant does not cover material and/or field course costs.
