MEduc - Registration and Enrolment

Enrolment for New Students:

This information is for students who will be joining Year 1 of the MEduc Programme.

The first step in becoming a student at the University of Glasgow is completion of Registration.  Full information on this process is available on our Registry Webpages.

Following registration, students are then required to enrol on classes.  Full information is available on our Registry Webpages.

Enrolment Requirements

The My Requirements tab describes overall course, credit and grade requirements.  The Compulsory Courses which you are required to enrol on are:

  • Education and Society 1 (EDUC1081P)
  • Education in Practice 1A (EDUC1080P)
  • Education in Practice 1B (EDUC1092P)

 If you wish to teach in a Catholic School and will be undertaking the Catholic Teachers Certificate (CTC) then you must enrol on:

  •  Theology in Education 1 (EDUC1033)

 If you will not be undertaking the Catholic Teachers Certificate (CTC) then you must enrol on:

  •  What is the Point in Education (EDUC1083P)

 You will also be required to enrol on ONE of the following College of Social Science courses:

  • Sociology 1A and 1B (SOCIO1009 & SOCIO1010)
  • Politics 1A and 1B(POLITIC1001 & POLITIC1002)
  • Social Public Policy 1A and 1B (PUBPOL1010 & PUBPOL1011)

Please ensure that you enrol on the same A and B courses for one of the above College of Social Science options.  For example, if you enrol on Sociology 1A, you must enrol on Sociology 1B.  We advise you to enrol early, because every class has a size limit and enrolment is on a first-come-first-served basis.

Enrolment for Continuing Students:

YEAR 2

The Compulsory Courses which you are required to enrol on are:

  • Education and Society 2 (EDUC2086P)
  • Education in Practice 2A (EDUC2085P)
  • Education in Practice 2B (EDUC2100P)

Students who are taking the Catholic Teachers Certificate (CTC) must enrol on:

  •  Theology in Education 2 (EDUC2060)

 If you do not wish to teach in a Catholic School and will not be undertaking the Catholic Teachers Certificate (CTC) then you must enrol on:

  •  What  If?  Questioning Education (EDUC2091)

You will also be required to enrol on Level 2 of the courses which you enrolled on in Year One with the School of Social and Political Sciences.  For example, if you were enrolled on Sociology 1A and 1B, you must enrol on Sociology 2A and 2B.  The course codes are as follows: 

  • Sociology 2A and 2B (SOCIO2020 & SOCIO2021)
  • Politics 2A and 2B (POLITIC2001 & POLITIC2002)
  • Social and Public Policy 2A and 2B (PUBPOL2010 & PUBPOL2011)

YEAR 3

The Compulsory Courses which you are required to enrol on are:

  • Education in Practice (EDUC3073P)
  • Education and Society (EDUC3074P)
  • Educational Elective (EDUC3078P)
  • Teacher Learning and Curriculum (EDUC3075P)
  • School Experience (EDUC3079)

YEAR 4

The Compulsory Courses which you are required to enrol on are:

  • Education in Practice (EDUC4081P)
  • Education and Society (EDUC5863P)
  • Educational Elective (EDUC5862P)
  • Educational Enquiry (EDUC4084P)
  • School Experience (EDUC4085)

Students who are taking the Catholic Teachers Certificate (CTC) must enrol on:

  • Catholic Teacher Certificate (EDUC1004)

YEAR 5

The Compulsory Courses which you are required to enrol on are:

  • Education in Practice 5 (EDUC5876P)
  • Profressional Enquiry and Decision Making (EDUC5376)
  • Dissertation (EDUC5378P)
