  • As a member of research staff, you have a minimum of 10 days a year of continuing professional development (pro rata) which you can use to support career exploration and equip you for a broad range of careers. Check out the What do 10 days of CPD look like? page to give you some ideas.
  • HR have a comprehensive Academic Promotion page, with access to the Academic Promotion Portal and Academic System Promotion Guidance.
  • The University of Glasgow Career service offer Information for Staff, and provide services such as 1-1 support for Early Career Researchers and PGRs.

Courses:

  • The Glasgow Crucible - this four day leadership and development programme is designed to support Early Career Researchers in taking the next step in their career. Registration typically opens May each year.
  • Management, Leadership & Personal Effectiveness - HR run a range of leadership and management courses, from communication and influencing to managing projects.

  • Information for Research Line Managers - Sally Wyke, Dean of Research, has created a comprehensive guide for colleagues taking up a role involving the management of people in research.
  • ECDP Mentoring - HR have an informative page that outlines the benefits of mentoring and the process of becoming a mentor or mentee as an early career researcher.
  • How can I support my Researchers' Mental Health? - this page contains an informative video by Suzie Shapiro, PGR Mental Health advisor, on how to effectively support your researchers' mental health.
