MEET THE TEAM

Sandra Corr BVMS, CertSAS, DipECVS, FHEA, PhD, MRCVS

Professor in Small Animal Orthopeadic Surgery 

Sandra is the Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Head of Surgery. A Glasgow graduate, she spent six years in general small animal and equine practice before completing a PhD on gait analysis and then a Residency in Small Animal Surgery at Glasgow.

She has been a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) since 2005. After several years at the Royal Veterinary College in London, and Nottingham Vet School, she returned to Glasgow University in 2016. 

Andrew Maclaughlan BVM&S BSAVAPGCertSAS MRCVS

Clinician in Small Animal Surgery 

Andrew graduated from the University of Edinburgh and completed an internship at the University of Glasgow.

Having worked exclusively in small animal practice for many years, extensive post-graduate training and a period spent in post-graduate research resulted in his attainment of a certificate in small animal surgery in 2017. Andrew has been an RCVS Recognised Advanced Practitioner in Surgery since 2020.

Before returning to the Small Animal Hospital in December 2021, Andrew spent two years as part of a specialist-led, peripatetic surgical service covering most of mainland Scotland.

Andrew’s clinical interests include minimally invasive fracture repair and the management of angular limb deformities. He is also keen to pursue further research into outcome measurement in musculoskeletal disease.

James Philips BVMS PgC(SAS) MRCVS

Clinician in Small Animal Surgery 

James Graduated from Glasgow University in 2012. He initially worked in mixed animal practice before moving to small animal only practice in Glasgow.

He is an Advanced Practitioner in small animal surgery and has spent the last 3 years working as a peripatetic surgeon for CVS offering soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery for their practices throughout Scotland. He has a keen interest in cruciate disease treatment and fracture repair but also specialises in oncology cases and skin reconstruction.

Iona Macdonald RVN CertVNECC

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Iona qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse from Myerscough College in 2010, further studying for a certificate in Emergency and Critical Care in 2013.  She gained experience working in multi-disciplinary referral hospitals before joining our nursing team in 2019. 

She is passionate about providing a high standard of care to her patients and can often be found in the wards ensuring her patients have everything they need.  As our Senior Surgery Nurse she is responsible for both the orthopaedic and soft tissue cases.

Kendra Yates RVN ISFM CertFN 

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Kendra graduated as a Registered Veterinary Nurse from Edinburgh Napier University in 2017. After graduating she worked in a first opinion practice in Ayrshire but left to join the team at the Small Animal Hospital in 2022.

Kendra started as a rotating nurse and worked in all areas of the hospital but quickly joined the Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic team, which she thoroughly enjoys. Kendra has a nursing certificate from International Cat Care in feline nursing and is currently studying towards getting her certificate in surgical nursing. At home she has a senior cat, Tammy, who was adopted from Cats Protection.
