Key Dates

The University of Glasgow will be closed between Sunday, 21 December 2025 and Sunday, 4 January 2026. This excludes the Library and essential research facilities, which will remain open as required.

If you plan to use any other facilites over the winter vacation please check with your school or college for availability and opening hours.

GUSA/UofG Sport

The Stevenson Building will be closed on 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January. All other days we will be open normal hours except 30 and 31 December when we are open 10am-4pm. Garscube Sports Complex is closed from 24 December until 2 January (inclusive). All Garscube-only members will be able to access the Stevenson Building during this time.

UofG Sport Festive Friend Pass

Members can get free access for one friend per visit to UofG Sport at any time between 1st and 31st December 2025.

Please note: member must be present at each visit, and your friend will be required to create a free UofG Sport account for access.

Halls of Residence

Mental Health and Wellbeing Support Over the Winter Vacation

We hope you’re looking forward to a well-deserved break and some relaxation over the Christmas period.We know the holiday break can be a busy time, and we want to assure you that support is still available if you need it, even when the university is closed.

While the festive season can be a time of celebration, we also recognise that it can present unique challenges for some in our community. Whether it's managing the pressures of the cost-of-living, feeling the strain of global events, or navigating feelings of loneliness while away from family, remember you are not alone. We are here to ensure you feel supported throughout the break.

24/7 Counselling & Advice Line

This is the key support contact during the closure period. All students have access to our 24/7 Counselling & Advice line on 0800 028 3766 (including access to Language Line, so you can speak in your first language) and Wisdom app\ (which features live chat function and video calling), . 

Counselling & Wellbeing Service

If you are experiencing difficulties with your mental health, you can also self-refer to Counselling & Wellbeing for one-to-one support. An appointment will be offered to you when the University re-opens in
