The College of Social Sciences provides an array of skills training and development opportunities for our students to support their development of skills and graduate attributes. These opportunities are laid out below.

College Employability Programme
All of our College Employability Programme courses are delivered online in partnership with trained skills tutors who will provide feedback on your development of key skills at each stage. Our umbrella skills course is the Graduate Skills Programme which supports you to reflect on the skills and graduate attributes developed across the entirety of your university experience.
University Services skills courses
Other skills training opportunities are delivered by University Services, In particular, the Careers Service, who provide online skills courses designed to accelerate your career, alongside their internship, job search, and career planning support. In addition, the Learning Enhancement and Academic Development Service (LEADS) deliver academic skills training and some soft skills training around areas such as presentation skills and groupwork.
External skills courses
The University subscribes to several external skills training providers, which can help to fill gaps where you have particular skills training needs or career aspirations.
Open Learn, from the Open University offer 900 FREE courses covering areas including Lanaguages, Money & Business as well as Society, Politics and Law.
All University of Glasgow students now have free access to over 16,000 professional and personal development courses on LinkedIn Learning. Course topics range from IT skills to job searching to photography and are broken down into three key areas: Technology, Business and Creative.
Education platform Coursera provides access to 3000+ free courses from various partner Universities.
The National Careers Service developed this Skills Toolkit which signposts a range of free online courses to help you learn new skills or change jobs. We would particularly recommend the following digital skills courses:
- Business and finance (including project and business management and sales),
- Digital design and marketing (including user experience design (UX), graphic design, app design and social media),
- Computing science (including cybersecurity, computer networks, and AI),
- Coding (including HTML, C++ and Python)
