What are the main features of the August 2025 pay spine restructure?

Building on the interim changes introduced in 2022, when new contribution points were created at the top of each grade to ensure colleagues received a minimum salary uplift of 3%, these have now been formalised as substantive contribution points, effective from 1 August 2025.

This applies to:

  • Spinal points 14 and 15 (Grade 3)
  • Spinal points 19 and 20 (Grade 4)
  • Spinal point 26 (Grade 5)
  • Spinal point 33 (Grade 6)
  • Spinal point 40 (Grade 7)
  • Spinal point 48 (Grade 8)
  • Spinal point 53 (Grade 9)

At the same time, the following points have been removed from Grades 3, 4 and 5:

  • Spinal points 9 has been removed from Grade 3
  • Spinal point 11 has been removed from Grade 4
  • Spinal point 16 has been removed from Grade 5
