William Cullen (1710 - 1790)

Physician and chemist

Graduated with an MA from the University of Glasgow but returned to take the Chair of Medicine in 1751. He made discoveries in latent heat that were subsequently developed further by his pupil Joseph Black. Although he made no outstanding discoveries, he was renowned for his teaching skills and considered a leading British physician of the 18th Century.188
