Osborne Henry Mavor (1888 - 1951)

Dramatist, GP and Professor of Medicine at Anderson's College

 

Known as James Bridie, he studied at Glasgow from1905-1913. He was editor of the University Magazine and contributed drawings, light verse and stories (see below for an example of a drawing of Dr Macewen). He was responsible for the birth of ‘Daft Friday', still observed by students today. He co-founded Glasgow Citizens’ theatre and produced over 40 plays including ‘The Anatomist’.205
