Forensic Scientist

John Glaister junior was the second son of John and Mary Glaister and succeeded his father in the Regius Chair of Forensic Science in 1931, holding the position until 1962. Glaister junior had a high public profile due to his regular (and often dramatic) appearances in court as an expert witness. So much so that the novelist and lawyer Erle Stanley Gardner, author of the popular Perry Mason books, dedicated one of his novels ('The Case of the Horrified Heirs') to him. Glaister's nephew Gerard Glaister, a television producer later based his 1968 BBC TV drama series 'The Expert' on the work of his uncle.198
