Talks and demonstrations with African artworks from the Argyll Collection

We are delighted to contribute to Art Conservation Open Day, a collaborative event organised by the University of St Andrews and Argyll and Bute Council.

Come along to Dunoon Burgh Hall on 4 March 2023 from 10am until 4pm. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

In addition to talks, demonstrations and Q&A sessions, this event offers an exciting opportunity to investigate and discuss a selection of modern African artworks from the internationally significant Argyll Collection.

Christina Young from the Kelvin Centre is one of the guest experts, discussing the insights that technical art history may offer into the Argyll Collection’s African artworks. Other speakers are Nancy Dantas, C-MAP Africa Fellow, Museum of Modern Art, New York, and by Stephanie De Roehmer, Directory Board member of the International Council of Museums Committee for Conservation (ICOM-CC).

The Art Conservation Open Day builds on research into the African artworks in the Argyll Collection carried out by Kate Cowcher, University of St Andrews alongside partners from Argyll and Bute Council.
