Communicate your Research

Public Engagement

Public engagement is an area of activity that is encouraged and valued by funders and the University. It provides an opportunity to build confidence and skills in communicating your research to lay audiences. It can also provide unique opportunities to gain valuable insights that influence your research.

The University's Public and Community Engagement Advisor Zara Gladman, can advise you on planning of public engagement activities or on applying for public engagement funding opportunities.

You can showcase your research and engage with the public through events such as the Glasgow Science Festival ,  Explorathon - European Researchers' Night or the ESRC Festival of Social Science

Publicity for Research Findings

You can share your research findings via Enlighten: Publications and social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook etc.

The Altmetric tool on the Enlighten system monitors and reports the social attention your research findings have captured.

The Social Media Toolkit and the resources on ‘Your Digital Footprint’ will help you to effectively and appropriately publicise your research findings and develop your online presence.

Press and Media

If you believe your research findings are of interest to the media, please contact the College Specific Press Officer listed below or email the University Communications and Public Affairs Office who can advise on showcasing research through press releases.

When contacting the press team please include a few lines of context about the research and its implications.

** Please make sure your research article is deposited on Enlighten before a press release is issued and before speaking to the press. **

Managing your Research Profile on the University Staff Page

This guide will help you to update your research profile on the University Staff web page and add 'Selected Publications' to your Staff Profile. Please make sure your publication record is complete on Enlighten: Publications as this will automatically show on your staff profile. For further support please contact the Enlighten Team. If you have records in Enlighten: Research Data and other data repositories, Research Data now pull through to staff profile pages automatically, so it is not necessary to contact our team to arrange this. We also recommend that you register for an ORCiD.
