Nationals of countries outside the European Economic Area or Switzerland are currently subject to UK immigration control, and therefore require a visa or leave to remain to be in the UK. Universities are required by law to check that all their students have valid immigration permission for the UK. The Immigration Compliance Team is responsible for ensuring that this requirement is met.
Universities are also licenced to sponsor students to come to the UK to study under the Tier 4 visa route. The University of Glasgow is a registered Tier 4 sponsor with Sponsor Licence Number TRAW6PAA8.

New Student? Register Your Visa!
It is not currently possible to collect your Biometric Residence Permit from the University Campus. If you are in the process of applying for a visa, please do not enter the University's ACL code. If you have already had your visa granted and are planning to travel to the UK and collect your BRP from us, please contact us for further information.
If you do not need to collect a BRP from us, for example if:
- Your visa is for 6 months or less, or
- You have already collected your BRP from the Post Office, or
- You have a visa or other immigration permission under a category that does not need a BRP,

Collecting your BRP from UofG?
As a result of COVID-19 arrangements, the University of Glasgow will not be open for BRP collection. When completing your visa application, you should select your pick up location as your closest Post Office branch.
