AHRC Celtic CDT Scholarship 2019/20
Doctoral Scholarship in Celtic Languages, Literatures and Cultures
The AHRC Centre for Doctoral Training in the Celtic Languages are pleased to announce a special doctoral scholarship in Celtic Languages, Literatures and Cultures to a new or continuing student at one of its 12 members HEIs. These are the universities of:
- Aberdeen
- Bangor
- Cambridge
- Edinburgh
- Glasgow
- Oxford
- Swansea
- Queens University Belfast
- Ulster
- Highlands and Islands/Sabhal Mòr Ostaig
- Wales Trinity Saint David
- Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies, Aberystwyth.
Collaborative supervision between member institutions is encouraged where appropriate.
Details
The scholarship is open to UK and EU students and is intended to cover tuition fees and annual stipend at UKRI rates (EU students are eligible for fees only).
New students: start date 1 October 2019
Continuing students must have completed no more than 50% of their supervised study period on taking up the scholarship.
Note: The funded period will end no later than 30 September 2022.
In order to be nominated for a scholarship, applicants must hold an unconditional or conditional offer of a place on a PhD degree programme for a topic which relates to Celtic Languages, Literatures and Cultures (not necessarily in a Department of Celtic).
Applicants must not be holding another full scholarship for the 2019/20 academic session. Applicants holding a part scholarship (e.g. fees only or stipend only) may still be considered.
Applicants should apply to their preferred institution. Following an internal selection process, each institution will nominate a number of applications to the CDT who will make the final decision on the award.

How to Apply
Applications will be accepted only by applicants who have been nominated by the institution at which they are or will be registered in respect of this proposed research.
Applicants should complete an application form, available at www.glasgow.ac.uk/cdtceltic, and submit it to arts-cdt-celtic@glasgow.ac.uk by Friday, 31 May 2019.
The institution should supply an Institutional Statement of Support separately, and submit it to arts-cdt-celtic@glasgow.ac.uk also by Friday, 31 May 2019.
Applicants are responsible for making sure that they, and their supporting institution, adhere to this deadline.

Further information
The collaborative Centre for Doctoral Training in the Celtic Languages is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council for the period 2014-19 (i.e. final scholarships ending 2022). It manages doctoral scholarships and training programmes in Celtic Languages, Literatures and Cultures in a new, collaborative fashion. The CDT consists of a consortium of 12 higher education organisations across the UK. The Centre is managed by the University of Glasgow.
