Sun-bleached but endowed with a hint of darkness, Sicily bewitches everyone who explores it. Many writers and artists over the centuries have drawn inspiration from this mysterious island, using it as a set for some of the greatest works in world literature.
In this event, Joseph Farrell (University of Strathclyde) will start by introducing the island of Sicily and its writers. Dario Tomasello (University of Messina) will then discuss the peculiar ghosts within the works of Luigi Pirandello and – since it IS Hallowe’en - Aleister Crowley’s haunted house in Nottetempo [At Night].
To finish, Tomasello will perform some of his own works.
The event ends with a Q&A with Enza De Francisci (Glasgow University), considering Sicilian culture, the island, its mystery and its history.
Following the event there will be a rinfresco offered by ItalianScotland.
