Christie Williamson is the author of Oo an Feddirs (2015), and Arc o Möns (2009), a pamphlet of translations of poems by Federico Garcia Lorca into Shetlandic which won the Callum Macdonald Memorial Award.
Oo an Feddirs is a striking collection of over 70 poems, some of which have been published in magazines as diverse as New Shetlander, Poetry Scotland, Northwords Now, Gutter and New Writing Scotland. 'Parasites' was shortlisted for the Wigtown Poetry Competition in 2006.
Doors tae Naewye harkens back to the wit of Burns, adding a modern twist to Scots poetry which brings political and philosophical tones to the fore. In this new collection, award-winning poet Christie Williamson adds a personal touch to his work in commemorative poems for wedding anniversaries and verse inspired by those close to him, beautifully conveying universal themes about family, nature and death.
Creative Conversations is funded by the Ferguson Bequest. Professor Thomas Ferguson (1900-1977), Henry Mechan Chair of Public Health (1944-64), bequeathed his estate to the University, with the instruction that the money should be used to foster the social side of University life.
