In spring 2027 Kerri Armstrong will be joining the University of Glasgow School of Law as our Alan Rodger Postgraduate Visitor. She is a doctoral candidate at Northumbria University researching the history of criminal law. She is investigating the nature of crime and its relationship with women in northeast England in the later nineteenth century. During her visit she will be using the University of Glasgow’s High Court of Justiciary Circuit Records (1830–1836), analysing all cases involving female defendants, to uncover gendered patterns in both offending and legal decision making. She also hopes to draw attention to the University's archival holdings and its research potential.
