Study week at the Royal Scots College in Salamanca, Spain

Issued: Wed, 01 Nov 2017 11:54:00 GMT

A small group of staff and students recently took part in a study week at the Royal Scots College in Salamanca, Spain.  The College has been in existence since 1627, making it one of the oldest Scottish institutions (see http://scots-college-salamanca.org/ ).

Founded for the training of priests, it now hosts the propaedeutic year for those preparing to study for the priesthood in Rome: one current student, James Farrell, studied PGDE at Glasgow last year.  Fr Stephen Reilly, Dr Robert Doherty, and students Amy Crosbie and Maria Glencross (MEduc2) spent 5 days there as part of an exploration of future formation opportunities for SoE students and staff.  The students undertook classes and seminars in Spanish language and culture, the Spanish Mystics, and aspects of Catholic educational philosophy.  We hope that the relationship with the Royal Scots College will grow and develop over the coming years.
