Cardinal Winning Lecture 2018

Saturday 3 March 2018 - 10.40am

(1, University Avenue)

The Right Honourable Nicola Sturgeon MSP

First Minister of Scotland

We are pleased to announce that the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, will deliver the 2018 Cardinal Winning Lecture on the morning of Saturday 3rd March 2018. The lecture will take place in the Sir Chares Wilson Lecture Theatre, 1 University Avenue, Glasgow, G12 8QQ.

2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the agreement between Church and state with regard to the provision of Catholic Education in Scotland and therefore it is fitting that the First Minister will be delivering the lecture, which will recognise the centenary of the landmark 1918 Act.

The Cardinal Winning Lecture, formerly known as the Catholic Education Week Lecture, was established in 1993 by the Department of Religious Education in St. Andrew's College. The lecture was instituted to showcase leading Catholic and Christian thinkers interested in education, Catholic education and the public space. On a number of occasions leading politicians have been invited to deliver the lecture in relation to important events or anniversaries affecting the Catholic community. We hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be a memorable event. The format of the event is as follows:

9am                 Mass (University Chapel)

10.30am          Lecture followed by questions and answers (Sir Charles Wilson Lecture Theatre)

11.45am          Prayer

11.50am          Finish

Tea & coffee will be served
