Registration & Enrolment

Before you can start selecting your classes, you will need to complete your student registration first before you can enrol on your courses though MyCampus. Until you complete this first stage, you will not be able to enrol in your courses

You’ll get details of how to log into MyCampus by email when you receive your 'Access Your Student Account' (AAN).

You need to register and enrol as soon as possible but by no later than the 29th September 2023

All students undertaking campus-based programmes of study are expected to arrive in Glasgow in time to join Induction & Orientation events in the week commencing Monday 11th September 2023. Teaching will begin on Monday 18th September 2023.

If you are not fully registered by this date, you will be unable to access your programme materials.

Student Registration

MyCampus will ask you to confirm your Programme and Plan, you will have details of this information from your acceptance letter (AAN).

Your Programme is the type of degree you are studying. For postgraduate taught students in Education this will be the following programmes

You can follow the Registry guide to registration.

How do I enrol in my courses?

You will find instructions on how to enrol on courses in the system from the Registry web pages at www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/registry/enrolment

MyCampus provides guidance to help you select suitable courses according to your degree Program and Plan (for instance, MSc Educational Studies), so, if your plan is incorrect or if you wish to change the direction of your studies, you must contact your programme team as soon as possible to change it before you starting to enrolling into any courses.

When you login into Mycampus to select your courses, you will see the ‘My Requirements’ tab which describes the overall course, grade and credit requirements associated with your programmes plan and what core (compulsory) courses you must take.

If your programme allows options, you will also be able to view what permitted course options (electives) you can take as part of your programme.

As you begin to select your courses and associated classes such as tutorials or seminars, you will be able to see how these fit into your provisional timetable in ‘My Choices’.

At this stage, this will help you to identify potential timetable clashes before enrolling. You can also use the “check suitability” button in MyChoices, which checks your class selections against your timetable and any course requirements, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments before completing enrolment.

For further information on how to resolve Timetable clashes, please refer to the following guide- https://www.gla.ac.uk/media/Media_350111_smxx.pdf

What does ‘My Requirements’ mean?

When you login into Mycampus to select your courses, you will see the ‘My Requirements’ tab which describes the overall course, grade and credit requirements associated with your programmes plan and what core (compulsory) courses you must take.

You may also see a message saying that you have not met your requirements, don’t worry, its because you are at the start of your programme

When you click ‘Enrol by requirements, your core (compulsory) courses will be selected, and you can then select any further classes such as seminars or labs.

If your programme allows course options, you will also be able to view what permitted electives you can take as part of your programme.

Can I change my Programme/plan?

There may be limited cases where you can change your programme, however, this would be dependent on the following:

  • There must be vacancies in the programme you wish to transfer to.
  • You must meet the minimum admission requirements of the programme you wish to transfer to.
  • You must make the request to transfer within the first two weeks of teaching.

The School will try to accommodate reasonable requests if they meet the above criteria, but decisions on transfer are final.

I am transferring credit or a part-time student

Postgraduate Taught Part-time Students: If you are a part-time student at PGT, we advise that you follow your programme’s recommended part time structure. You can get this from your programme team and following the advised structure will help ensure that you get the best student experience and complete your core (compulsory) courses first.

For most programmes. you will generally take 60 credits, per academic session over the course of 2.5-3 calendar years. With your dissertation taking a whole academic session.

Accredited Prior Learning students:  You may have credits accrued from previous learning that you wish to transfer to your current programme of study. Please send details of the course aims and intended learning outcomes and a copy of your transcript to your Programme Leader (add link to the contacts page) to allow them to consider your request.

Don’t delay enrolment!

It's important to be aware that places in each course, but especially in seminar groups, will be available on a strict first-come, first-served basis; therefore, early enrolment is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment and we are unable to make exceptions.

Once a seminar is full, you will be unable to enrol on it and we cannot increase the size of these groups and once an optional course is full, we cannot accept any more students on that course.

Remember: You have not enrolled by placing courses in ‘My Choices’. You need to take a further step and fully enrol.  Instructions on how to do this are on the MyCampus Registration and Enrolment Support pages.

What is the ‘Add/Drop’ period?

You might start an optional course (elective) and realise that it just isn’t for you or the course isn’t what you were expecting

Don’t panic, if this happens, you have the first two weeks of teaching to decide what alternatives you want to switch to.

Remember, being able to switch your course  will be dependent on if there is space within an alternative course you wish to take, and we can’t guarantee it will be always be possible to change courses- particularly with popular course options.

You must always consult your programme administrator if you are thinking of switching courses to ensure that your fee liability (how much you owe) is accurate and that you are completing the correct number of credits to satisfy the number of required credits for your programme of study.

If you are intending on switching courses, you must do this as soon as possible. After the end of the add/drop period on 29th September 2023, no changes will be possible or considered for semester 1 courses.

For Semester 2 courses, you must switch your course by the 26th January 2024.

My employer, local authority, scholarship, or other sponsor is paying my fees.

You need to upload information regarding your funding to MyCampus as soon as possible to ensure there is no interruption to your learning and you need to make sure that your funding letter covers all the information required.

A guide on what information is required and to avoid rejection of your sponsorship is available here: Student Sponsorship

Once your sponsorship document has been verified by the University of Glasgow’s Student Finance Team, it will display as verified on your

Please be aware, that if your sponsor fails to pay your fees as detailed in your agreement, you will be liable for the tuition fees accrued and must

I am applying for the part-time fee grant (SAAS). What do I need to do?

If you plan to study a degree programme totalling 30 credits per year, you may be eligible to apply for the part-time fee grant (PTFG) which can contribute towards your course fees.

Students in receipt of certain state benefits or those who are earning £25,000 or less per year including any private and state pensions may be eligible.

To download an application pack with completion guidelines please visit the visit our application process guidelines or visit the Student Awards Agency for Scotland(SAAS) website directly for further information.

If you are considering using SAAS funding, please read the following points carefully:

A new process for session 22/23 has been put in place that will affect the way we enrol students using PTFGs as we are unable to process paper applications.

It is important that you apply for funding for all your courses at the same time because if you add further courses during the year you will not receive any SAAS funding and you will be liable for these additional fees.

Be aware that the Part-time fee grant will not cover the full tuition fee cost of your course and you will need to pay any remaining balance.

To find out what your SAAS PTFG contribution could be, you can use the PTFG award calculator, ensuring that you select 'Type of Course' field displays Degree' and accurately input the number of credits you intend to complete this session.

Be aware that if you withdraw from some of your courses and the total amount of credits you are taking is then less than 30 credits, you will no longer be eligible for a Part-Time Fee Grant and will need to fund the courses you have taken yourself.

The grant does not cover material and/or field course costs.

I am an international student and I will not be able to arrive by Monday 18th September. What should I do?

In the event that your arrival in Glasgow is delayed due to COVID restrictions or visa issues due to UKVI delays, this must be reported to the University through a Late Arrivals Notification form on Ivanti.

The latest date for arrival published on CAS notifications will be Monday 2nd October 2023. Where you will be prevented from arriving in Glasgow by this date due to the reasons outlined above, this must be reported to the University through a Late Arrivals Notification form on Ivanti with a request to extend the date published on the CAS notification.

Important

Although the latest date of arrival for international students will be Monday 2nd October 2023, students MUST be fully registered and enrolled by Friday 29th September 2023 in order to commence study in 2023-24.

Where students have indicated that they will not arrive before the start of teaching on Monday 18th September 2023, provision will be made to provide online teaching. Students in this position should engage with study from the beginning of the semester and not wait until their arrival in Glasgow.
