Micro Analysis

The main elements that we micro analyse are Carbon, Hydrogen, and Nitrogen. These elements are analysed on an Exeter CE-440 Elemental Analyser. In order to achieve a successful analysis we require approx 5mg of an extremely pure compound. The sample would be done in duplicate, and if the sample is homogenous the percentages found should be within 0.3% of each other. For the results to verify that the sample is what is expected, the results must be within +/- 0.3% of the theoretical value.

We can also do Chlorine, Bromine, and Iodine analysis, these are done by micro titrations, approx 10mg of the sample is required and the results must be within +/- 0.5% of the theoretical value to verify the compound.  These are not carried out routinely so arrangements would need to be made before samples were submitted.
