Data Science

Our Data Science research theme aims to build on our international reputation for excellence in using routine data to support intervention studies, to evaluate public health policies, to utilise data linkage for epidemiological studies and to explore health determinants and health inequalities.

It underpins the research of our other two themes (Determinants of Health and Health Inequalities and Solutions Focused Research).

Data science and health informatics are not stand-alone endeavours but rather integral to, and fully integrated with, research, practice and policy. In particular, data science has the potential to transform research by enabling high-quality, impactful projects using routine data sources to enable greater efficiency, value for money, and at large-scale and speed.
