Handball is a fun and fast team sport which is especially popular in Scandinavia and mainland Europe. It's played indoors and in teams of seven, and some body contact is encouraged to stop the attack of the opposite team.
The club is very diverse in terms of both experience and nationality, and we welcome everyone with the same mindset of learning more while also having fun and enjoying the social aspects of university.
Trainings are held in the Activity Hall on Level 5 of the Stevenson Building. See the Club Sport Training Timetable or check our Instagram or Facebook accounts for specific training times.
Although we compete in women's and men's teams, trainings are mixed and provide a great opportunity to get to know everyone. Throughout the season the teams are each other's biggest supporters!
We compete in the Scottish university league, with matches usually held on Sundays throughout both terms. Depending on our place at the end of the season, we participate in BUCS Nationals against top teams from both Scotland and England.
Despite being a recently founded club, both teams have done remarkably well. Our achievements include:
- 2021-22 — Women's 1st place in the university league, and 2nd place in BUCS Cup
- 2019-20 — Women's 1st place in BUCS Plate
- 2019-20 — Men's 2nd place in BUCS Plate
- 2018-19 — Men's 2nd place in BUCS Plate
Since handball is a team sport, we greatly value the friendships created within the club. Socials range from team-building activities and hikes, to sub crawls or just the pub after a training, so there is always something for everyone to enjoy and get to know each other better!
Everyone is welcome regardless of skill or prior knowledge of the sport, and we are excited to introduce more people to one of the best sports out there! There are no try-outs to join either team.
Check our social media accounts for information regarding taster sessions.
