University Statement June 2026
We are deeply concerned to see the escalation of unrest and racially motivated abuse across the UK.
We know this will be a worrying time for colleagues, students and our wider Team UofG community.
We are very clear: the University of Glasgow condemns all forms of racism and all acts of violence. Hate has no place in our University or city.
We are a University of Sanctuary, dedicated to cultivating inclusive and welcoming campuses where everyone in our community feels safe, respected, and supported.. The strength of the University of Glasgow is our people. Our community is drawn from countries around the world which makes UofG global in its outlook. Our community’s creativity, thinking and breadth of cultures helps to ensure we are truly world-leading and world-changing We are committed to being an anti-racist institution. This requires action, accountability, and allyship from each, and all of us. The actions we take, even in small ways, can make a big difference to how we create a sense of inclusion and belonging within our UofG community. You can find out more about the work we are doing to realise this ambition within our Understanding Racism Transforming University Cultures webpages.
