University Update July 2026
Planned protests in Glasgow and student support information
If you are in Glasgow, we wanted to make you aware of planned protests taking place in the city centre and Glasgow Green area this weekend (Saturday 25 July).
We are here to support any member of our community who is concerned about these events. Your safety and wellbeing remain our number one priority. We are very clear – the University condemns all forms of racism and all acts of violence. Hate has no place in our university or city.
We would like to remind you that our security team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And we would encourage you to also download and activate the University’s SafeZone app for extra peace of mind.
We also have a range of different resources available to you. Please reach out to any of these services if you feel like you need them. We are here for you.
- Call the 24 hour counselling and advice line on 0800 028 3766 or download the Wisdom App (which features live chat function and video calling).
- There are support and wellbeing resources available on the Wellbeing home page, including access to our Support Finder
- You can use the Reporting Tool to tell us in confidence about any issues affecting you, or any student at the University of Glasgow.
- If you are a student living in halls of residence you can contact your Residence Life Team who are on hand for support, welfare issues and signposting.
- The SRC Advice Centre provides free and confidential advice to University of Glasgow students. It is also a third-party reporting centre for hate crime and can support you if you wish to make a report to Police Scotland.
- In case of an emergency please dial 999.
