Join us for a fabulous line up of speakers exploring “Living & Working with the Menopause”, featuring 3 leading researchers & practitioners:

  • Rachel Weiss, founder of the Menopause Café & world-leading ‘FlushFest’
  • Abby Fraser, medical anthropologist researching Menopause in pandemic & ‘normal’ times
  • Dinah Tobias, founder of Blooming Menopause, helping women & organisations navigate menopause at work

Rachel Weiss was inspired to found the Menopause Cafe charity in Perth, Scotland, after watching Kirsty Wark's 2017 BBC documentary "Menopause and Me". Menopause Cafe exists to provide space for conversations about the menopause, their pop-up events are open to all regardless of age or gender. Rachel will tell us the story of Menopause Cafe, how it's spread worldwide and about the world's only Menopause Festival, where creative arts help raise awareness of this under-acknowledged area.

Rachel is the founder of Menopause Café and of Rowan Consultancy. As a counsellor and coach, she enjoys helping people lead more satisfying lives and exploring, for herself, what it means to become an older, wiser woman.

Abby Fraser will draw on data collected during the first UK lockdown, to share how menopause experience varied during the first national Covid-19 lockdown - and what this can teach us about what influences menopause experience in 'normal' times.

Abby is a PhD student in Public Health at the University of Glasgow studying how ecological factors shape diversity in menopause experience. With the University, she has collected data to help with the development of evidence-based menopause in the workplace guidance. Her background is in medical anthropology, and she studies women’s health from an evolutionary perspective.

Dinah Tobias will explore why it is in an employer’s interest to support those going through menopause. She will discuss why menopause is not just a ‘women’s health’ issue and what workplaces can do to retain their experienced and talented employees. Dinah will share best practice for becoming a menopause-inclusive workplace and also discuss what those navigating menopause or approaching it can do to support themselves at work.

Dinah is passionate about helping employers create menopause-inclusive workplaces. With a background in marketing, training, consulting and coaching, she is well placed to bring to life a topic that affects everyone, even if they won’t go through menopause themselves. She founded Blooming Menopause to ensure that all workplaces raise awareness, educate and support those navigating menopause and all colleagues and line managers who need to understand the impact of menopause.
