It is widely known that organ donation saves lives and while more than 90% of the Scottish public would receive an organ if they needed and donate, only 50% are on the organ donor register. In this talk , Radha will set out the context, clinical importance, the change to the law in Scotland, process at end of life and the barriers that may  arise in our diverse society. David will introduce the concepts of donation, gifting and selflessness against a wider ethical framework and hopes to encourage debate about donation versus reusing /recycling .

 Dr Radha Sundaram is a consultant in intensive care in NHS GGC for 13 years. Radha works closely with NHS Blood and Transplant, Scottish Government and Kidney Research UK to raise awareness regarding organ donation in our  diverse communities.

Dr David Shaw is an internationally renowned bio-ethicist. David works closely with NHS Blood Transplant on the crucial and sensitive issue of ethics of organ donation and has authored many seminal articles on the issue.
