Research Training Support Grant (RTSG)

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) provides funding to support AHRC CDT doctoral students who wish to undertake study visits and conference attendance during the tenure of their awards. Funding is available to contribute to travel and accommodation costs and certain additional expenses. Proposed study visits or conference attendance may be within the UK or overseas. This funding in intended to enable students to undertake primary research studies (such as fieldwork or archival research) that is essential to the completion of the thesis or dissertation. It is not intended to cover the costs of undertaking preliminary research or attending a training course.

RTSG funding is very limited. Therefore, only applications making an outstanding and exceptional case for support are likely to succeed. Applications will be considered only in cases where the academic supervisor certifies that the study visit is essential to the research.

Deadlines for RTSG applications are: 31 March, 31 May and 31 October. Applications between these deadlines will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Please note that it may take up to 4 weeks to receive the outcome of your application. If successful, you will be required to submit on completion of your trip, an Celtic CDT Completion Certification‌ and relective piece.

Please apply using the application form available at the link below. Completed forms should be emailed in PDF format to arts-cdt-celtic@glasgow.ac.uk
