Postcode and Eligibility Checker
You could be eligible for one of our pre-entry programmes or an adjusted offer if you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Live in an SIMD decile 1-4 postcode (SIMD 20/40)
- Are care experienced
- Are estranged from family and living without family support
- Are a carer (provide unpaid care)
- Are seeking asylum in the UK
- Have refugee status

Which programme can I do?
There are a number of WP pre-entry programmes available depending on where you live, what year you are in, and what you want to study. Below is a guide to which programmes you could participate in.
If you are interested in studying Dentistry, Law, Medicine, or Veterinary Medicine:
You could participate in the Reach programme.
In addition to the programme(s) listed above, if you are interested in studying at university more broadly, you could participate in the Taster Week.
If you are interested in studying Dentistry, Law, Medicine, or Veterinary Medicine:
You could participate in the Reach programme.
If you are interested in studying another subject:
You could participate in the Top Up programme, depending on which school you attend. If you are unsure if your school is eligible for Top Up, ask your school guidance teacher or contact topup@gla.ac.uk.
You could also participate in the Sutton Trust programme. Please see here for further Sutton Trust eligibility information.
In addition to the programme(s) listed above, if you are interested in university more broadly, you could also participate in University Experience Week.

If you are interested in studying Dentistry, Medicine, or Veterinary Medicine:
You could participate in the Reach programme.
If you are interested in studying Law:
You could participate in the Reach and/or Top Up programmes, depending on which school you attend and which universities you want to apply to. Please contact reach@gla.ac.uk or topup@gla.ac.uk for advice.
If you are interested in studying another subject:
You could participate in the Top Up programme, depending on which school you attend. If you are unsure if your school is eligible for Top Up, ask your school guidance teacher or contact topup@gla.ac.uk.
If you are applying to study at the University of Glasgow and:
- meet at least one of the eligibility criteria above
- OR have participated in a SWAP or Access programme
- OR have indicated to Disability Services that you have an Autism Spectrum Condition
- AND have not already completed a pre-entry programme
you may receive a conditional offer that includes completion of Summer School as a part of your adjusted entry requirements.
I go to an independent school
Unfortunately, if you attend an independent school, you are not eligible to take part in the pre-entry programmes listed here. However, if you meet any of the eligibility criteria, you could be eligible for an adjusted offer.
I have left school
You could participate in an HNC Articulation programme through one of the listed colleges.
If you have been out of formal education for three or more years:
You could participate in the Access to Higher Education programme.
I do not meet the listed WP criteria, but I have faced extenuating circumstances that have impacted my education
If your education or exam performance has been impacted upon by extenuating circumstances, you could still be eligible for our programmes. If you do not meet any of the above criteria but think you should be considered, please speak to your guidance teacher.
None of these apply to me
If you do not meet any of the listed criteria for the programmes, then unfortunately you will not be able to participate in the programmes listed here.
