Cultural Autonomy and Minority Rights

A workshop on policy briefing work with the Romanian government during 2005 led to a joint academic-practitioner workshop on Cultural Autonomy and Minority Rights held in July 2006, involving participants from eight countries, including representatives of the OSCE, Council of Europe Venice Commission, and the Romanian government.

 

'1956 and its Legacy: Hungary and Poland'

The Department of Central and East European Studies hosted an international one-day conference commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the events of 1956 in Hungary and Poland, on 30 March, 2006.

Both H.E. Béla Szombati, Hungarian Ambassador to the UK and Mr Aleksander Dietkow, Consul General of the Republic of Poland attended the event.
