Laura Cowan

I am a first-year doctoral candidate researching Computational Imaging, funded by Quantic and industrial sponsors Qioptiq.

As an undergraduate at the University of Glasgow (2010-2015, MSci) I developed my interest in Optics through projects on the study of biological interactions using holographic optical tweezers, slow light, blood oximetry and single pixel microscopy. I also explored non-linear optics at Tampere University of Technology, Finland (2014), investigating supercontinuum amplification of electronic signals.

At the University of Cambridge (2015-2016, MRes) I conducted research into experimental imaging using light field imaging to enhance light sheet fluorescent microscopy. I also collaborated with my current industrial sponsors, Qioptiq, on applied research into holographic head-up displays.
