Glasgow Legal Theory
Glasgow Legal Theory (GLT) is one of the largest academic units in Europe and the UK dedicated to research and teaching in legal theory broadly construed. We engage with the foundational, political and doctrinal aspects of the law in a critical key, seeking to generate well-defined research that sets the agenda for a philosophically demanding and politically progressive understanding of contemporary law and government.
The extensive international experience and cosmopolitan ethos of our Glasgow team has been key in attracting international scholars and graduate students to Glasgow, as well as establishing prominent international collaborations for research, mobility and post-graduate studies in the domain of legal theory.
We host a number of regular events annually, including the landmark Adam Smith Lecture in Jurisprudence, a collaborative Doctoral Workshop and the GLT Colloquium in Legal Theory.
