Head of the College of MVLS Professor Iain McInnes said: "I am delighted to announce that Professor Paul Garside has been appointed as Interim Director of the Institute of Infection, Immunity & Inflammation.

"I am sure you will all join me in wishing Paul warm congratulations and success."

Professor Garside added: "For those of you who don't know me, I am an immunologist who has worked in Glasgow for more than 30 years.

"I would like to update you on a few things as I take over as Interim Director. The process for the appointment of the new, longer-term Director is already in progress and the position will be advertised in the very near future.

"As the Institute evolves over the next few months, we aim to provide stability and a smooth transition to the next iteration.

"I am very pleased to announce that I will be ably assisted by a ’transition team’ of four Deputy Directors, each with a focus on a particular aspect of our work, and I would like to thank all of them for agreeing to help."
