The School of Health and Wellbeing’s Athena Swan professional services staff working group was set up to help identify and address any inequities in the treatment and conditions experienced by non-academic staff in the School.

The group has a strong focus on career development and earlier this year it launched the professional services career development Moodle quiz. Now mandatory for line managers of professional services staff (but open to anyone), this resource clarifies important differences between regrading and promotion and helps raise awareness of the ways that line managers can support the development of staff.

The group has also recently compiled four career development case studies outlining the career journeys of Professional Services staff colleagues in the School. These case studies highlight examples of successful (and unsuccessful) regrading, secondments, and gaining promotion by successfully applying for different jobs.
